CARDAMOM PODS GREEN WHOLE Elettaria cardamomum
Green Cardamom Pods have a slightly sweet, fresh aroma.
Sometimes mistakenly pronounced "cardamon", this spice is quite expensive by weight but the pods are quite pungent, so little is needed to impart flavour.
They're popularly used in spice mixes such as garam masala and chai blends, curries, meat and vegetable dishes. They are not to be confused with the larger black cardamom pods which have a much smokier impact on cuisine.
On a medicinal note, this spice has been used in ayurvedic remedies to assist in clearing the body of toxins. The powerful nutrients in cardamom may assist the body to increase the burning process of fats and may also assist to improve digestion and increase metabolism.
