DRIED JASMINE FLOWERS Jasminum officinale
The delicate jasmine flower is commonly infused with green or white tea for it's beautiful flavour and aroma.
Once the jasmine buds have been dried naturally they lose much of their aroma but can still be brewed on their own to make a herbal drink consisting solely of the small flowers that have yet to open.
Sometimes called the Queen of Flowers, jasmine flowers have been used since 1200s. Originally the plant was most popular for it's decorative purposes and beautiful aroma of the fresh flowers but over time it's been discovered to possess several therapeutic properties It continues to play a part in both traditional and alternative medicines today. Some of it's known health benefits include:
- Has been used to assist the liver (hepatitis) and pain associated with cirrhosis
- May help with abdominal pain due to diarrhea and may also help provide relief for painful menstrual cramps
- Used to calm and relax the nerves
- Thought to act as an aphrodisiac and increase sexual desire
- May be useful for skin conditions and is quite commonly an addition in skin creams and lotions
- Widely used in aromatherapy as an anti-depressant and aphrodisiac
Approximately 7-10 rosebuds (or 1 teaspoon) per 200ml
Brew 5-10 mins in water 90-100 degrees Celsius..
